With wide participation of students in an atmosphere full of enthusiasm, excitement and fun, the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) organised the ‘College Fans Festival’, in the presence of Dr Khalid Mohammed Al-Horr, President of CCQ, and a number of faculty and administrative members.

The festival included many cultural, sports and recreational activities designed to celebrate the shared passion for football in light of the approaching FIFA World Cup 2022, hosted by Qatar for the first time in the Arab world as well as in the Middle East.

On this occasion, Dr Khalid Al-Horr stressed the importance of sports in stimulating human, social and cultural development of members of societyespecially of football,whichis the game of millions of people around the world. He expressed his happiness with approaching the FIFA World Cup, and the accompanying atmosphere of enthusiasm in various parts of Qatar, with everyone waiting for the official lunch of the tournament.

Dr Al-Horr added that the College Fans Festival, which was organised by the Public Relations and Communication Department, in cooperation with the Student Affairs Division, for students and academic and administrative staff, provided a glimpse into the wonderful atmosphere that will accompany the upcoming football tournament. It is part of the sports and cultural activities that the College has lined up coinciding with the FIFA World Cup to enhance communication among its students and create an atmosphere of excitement and enthusiasm that will make it an unforgettable experience for them.

The festival kicked-off with the four-day PlayStation Football Tournament, "FIFA 2023”, which saw the participation of 25 students from various academic divisions. The game was held in a single-elimination mode and by activating the tactical defending settings and disabling the injury option, noting that there were no prerequisites for participating in the tournament stages.

The tournament witnessed fun and unforgettable moments, especially since the organising committee of the tournament allowed each participant to choose the team he represents, provided that it is among the countries participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which made it more motivating for the competitors to give their best and ignite the spirit of excitement to win the tournament. The tournament concluded with Yousef Al-Darwish in the first place, and Sanad Al-Hadidi in the second place, and Mohammad Jaber Al-Marri in third place.

The second event of the "College Fans Festival” was the "Support Your Team” contest, which revolved around each team representing one of the participating countries in the FIFA World Cup and show its support to that team provided that the most interactive and enthusiastic team will have the chance to win this contest based on the highest votes from the audience.

CCQ female students participated in the exhibition with great enthusiasm. Eight groups participated in this wonderful cultural entertainment experience. Each group had four female students and a faculty member representing one of the sports teams participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Each group set up a booth in the name of its team reflecting the culture of the country it belongs to, including fashion and food or other stuff it is most famous for.

The exhibition, which had a total of eight booths, including: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, and England, impressed the visitors, who learned about the culture of the countries and were briefed by the students competing for the title of the best booth in the exhibition, about customs and traditions of each country. On the basis of the result of audience voting on design, interaction, and enthusiasm, Qatar and Mexico booths were the winners.
