Bilateral relations between Turkiye and Qatar are of exceptional importance as both the countries are strategic allies and are furthering a sincere and solid alliance on the basis of mutual respect and common interests, Ambassador of Republic of Turkiye HE Dr Mustafa Goksu has said. The ambassador was speaking at a gala dinner hosted by him at his official residence to celebrate the 99th National Day of Turkiye.

Present on the occasion were HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of Shura Council; HE Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library; HE Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Turki Al-Subaie, Minister of Municipality; HE Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al-Ghanim, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs; HE Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change; Ambassador HE Ibrahim Yousef Fakhroo, Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; HE Ali Ibrahim, Ambassador of Eritrea and Dean of Diplomatic Corps; ambassadors; dignitaries; guests and members of the Turkish community.

"We [Qatar and Turkiye] are committed to maintaining and strengthening the current momentum in all areas within a long-term strategic vision, so that our relations will gain more strength year after year,” HE Goksu said.

"The strongest indication of the solidity of our joint relations is the annual meetings of the Supreme Strategic Committee led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The number of agreements since the establishment of the Committee in 2014 has reached nearly 100.”

Türkiye and Qatar will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations next year coinciding with the centenary celebrations of establishment of the modern Turkiye, he said.

"We are proud of Qatar for hosting the biggest ever sporting event first time in the Islamic world, which is also a major humanitarian event as HH the Amir described. On the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, our full support is there for the successful organization of the mega event. President Erdogan will be attending the inauguration ceremony,” the envoy said.

He paid his gratitude to Ghazi Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkiye and his comrades in arms and said Turkish nation always remembers its heroes and is grateful to them.

He said that the Turkish people are proudly celebrating the Turkish Republic Day, which is a unique turning point in the Turkish history following the successful liberation of the country. The ‘Turkish Grand National Assembly’ laid the foundation of the modern democratic Turkish state on October 29, 1923.

He added that Türkiye highly values its relations with the Middle-Eastern countries. "We seek to further strengthen our relations with Arab countries, with which we share common geography, culture and religious ties.”
