Qatar Classic Cars Contest & Exhibition 2020 was inaugurated on Tuesday on Porto Arabia Boardwalk (18 to 22 La Croisette) at The Pearl-Qatar and will continue until March 7. This event is being held under the patronage of Minister of Culture and Sports HE Salah bin Ghanem al Ali and is being organised by Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association in partnership with United Development Company (UDC), master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Island.
The opening ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association, Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Al-Othman, UDC President and Chief Executive Officer and Member of The Board,and Mr. Omar Alfardan, Vice-Chairman of the Gulf Qatari Classic Cars Association.
About 50 luxury classic cars that fall into different historical categories, some of which dating back to 1925, will participate in the exhibition, where a specialized symposium under the title "Classic cars... A passion for the past and an investment for the future" will be organized, in addition to a competition to choose the best participating cars and honor their owners.
The exhibition seeks to encourage investment in classic cars, highlighting its history in Qatar, in addition to introducing the various stages that the classic car industry has gone through, and encouraging the hobby of acquiring classic cars. To this end, the exhibition will represent a tourist attraction and a valuable opportunity to enhance the role of the private sector in promoting tourism in the countryin various sectors.
Hosting this event that brings together classic car enthusiasts and sheds light on the history of this hobby in Qatar, therefore positions The Pearl-Qatar asan iconic site that combines heritage and modernity in Qatar.
With this in mind, UDC is constantly endeavoring to provide a platform to support popular hobbies and host many events, including seasonal festivals and traditional celebrations that have proven to be very successful in attracting thousands of visitors to The Pearl-Qatar.
