Having checked more than 8,400 people for coronavirus as of Tuesday, Qatar has one of the highest covid-19 testing rates in the world, the Ministry of Public Health has said.
Qatar’s proactive testing system is an achievement a few countries can claim and is in contrast to the situation in several countries, including the US, where officials are struggling to come up with plans to address a “screaming shortage” of testing for coronavirus.
Only on Monday did the World Health Organisation call on nations to test every suspected case of the coronavirus pandemic to contain its spread.
So far 439 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the country. While Qatar hasn't reported any fatality linked to the virus or termed any case as being ‘critical’, four Covid-19 patients have made complete recovery.
