On the directives of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, in cooperation with the Qatar Fund for Development, has begun providing assistance to hundreds of people at the quarantine centres in the Gaza Strip as part of Qatar’s efforts to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, HE Ambassador Mohammed al Emadi, said this assistance comes within the $150 million financial grant announced by the Amir to the Gaza Strip over a period of six months. The grant includes providing necessary support to the people of Gaza Strip to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Emadi said the assistance provided to the quarantine centres includes the provision of meals and basic electrical appliances as well as blankets, pillows and mattresses. It also includes providing fuel needed for electricity at the quarantine centres.

The ambassador indicated that the distribution of this aid will take place in cooperation with the relevant ministries and government agencies, headed by the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
