Tribune News NetworkDohaStores in Qatar’s traditional markets such as the Souq Waqif and the old Al Wakra Souq has been exempted from rents for four months starting from the first of April, the Private Engineering Office said on Wednesday.Stores in old Al Khor Souq and Najada Market, as well as Faleh and Asiri markets near the Souq Wakif, Deira market, Nasser Bin Saif Market and other markets that are supervised by the Private engineering office are also exempted from the four-month rent.Mohamed al Salem, Director of Souq Waqif and Head of the Old Markets Division at the Private Engineering Office, said in a statement to the Qatar News Agency that the exemption is in line with the guidance of the government and to encourage Qatari investors to strengthen the preventive measures against the coronavirus (Covid 19).He stressed the keenness of the Private Engineering Office to support the efforts made by Qatar to contain the spread of coronavirus, and adhere to the directions of the leadership.Khaled Saif al Suwaidi, the manager of old Al Wakra Souq, said the private engineering office was keen to adhere to all the directives and guidelines related to the preventive measures against coronavirus in its markets.
