The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a set of instructions to restaurant operators in Qatar as part of the precautionary measures against coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission.

Operators are required to have the restaurant workers’ body temperatures taken twice a day, provide sterilisers and masks for all workers and ensure they maintained a safe distance of at least one and a half metres from one another.

Restaurant owners are also required to ensure that workers wore gloves and masks properly while preparing food or when dealing with things used by others. The onus of properly disposing of used masks and gloves also falls on the operators.

As per the instructions, restaurant owners should also encourage workers to wash their hands regularly before and after preparing meals and handling payments.

While it is a must for restaurants to polybag packed food for home delivery as an extra layer of protection to prevent contamination by touch, the ministry called on customers to properly dispose of the polybag upon receiving the order.
