Forty-nine teams have been shortlisted for the third and final evaluation round of Qatar Children Science Congress (QCSC) to be conducted on November 11.

The top two finalists will be nominated for the National Children’s Science Congress 2022 event in India.

Science India Forum (SIF) Qatar, under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in Qatar, organises QCSC every year since 2005 under a focal theme and sub-themes relevant to the contemporary world. This year the theme is ‘Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being’.

A total of 164 teams from 19 schools registered their science projects and qualified in the round one of the evaluations. The second round of evaluation was held on October 28 at the Loyola International School, Wukair campus.

The event was presided over by Pramod Rankawa, principal of Loyola International School. He warmly welcomed all students and guide teachers present there. He stressed the importance of science and how it will enhance the lives of the global citizens of tomorrow.

Ravikumar Narayanan, president of SIF Qatar welcomed the attendees and underlined the importance of QCSC programme that encourages application-based learning and uniquely combines the development of a scientific temper in children while at the same time, making them socially aware. Srinivas Oruganti, general secretary of SIF, explained the process of the presentations and the criteria to participating students and guide teachers.

The project evaluations were conducted by a team of scientists, professionals and technocrats. Out of the 164 teams that participated, 49 progressed into the third and final evaluation round.
