Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts, one of the 30 leading brands in the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio and Al Rayyan Tourism Investments Company (ARTIC), have announced the opening of Le Meridien City Center Doha.

In an interview with Qatar Tribune, Le Méridien City Center Doha Hotel Manager Cyril Mouawad said, “The hotel is a landmark in Qatar’s hotel sector, and is strategically located in the modern West Bay area of Doha. It is expected that the hotel will record high levels of occupancy in conjunction with the season, especially with the hotel’s distinctive components like premium rooms and suites, selection of finest restaurants, and various event facilities.”

Mouawad pointed out that Qatar is a global tourist destination, especially tourism related to sports, as Qatar pays great attention to sports, and it is of no doubt that many more international sporting events will be brought to Qatar in the near future.

Mouawad said, “There are many distinctive features that make Le Meridien City Center Hotel unique in the Qatari market. The hotel offers 353 thoughtfully designed guest rooms including 48 suites and 97 residential apartments each with floor-to-ceiling windows offering uninterrupted city and sea views. Designed to provide comfort and ease of mind to visitors, each guest room features calming neutral colours with spacious bathrooms, large bathtubs, working areas, and LCD televisions. The spacious residences feature fully fitted kitchens complete with a dishwasher, washing machine, hair dryer, and refrigerator for a comfortable experience for larger groups, families, and guests seeking longer stays.”

Inspired by Le Meridien’s design mission to celebrate its locale, mid-century modernism and subtle cultural nuances are woven throughout the hotel’s design. In the rooms and public spaces, guests will find art inspired by the scenery of the destination featuring formations of sand dunes and waves.

A diverse and distinct

dining experience

The hotel includes six food and beverage venues offering guests a culinary exploration. Café Rouge is a reinterpretation of a classic French bakery serving fresh pastries where Le Méridien’s coffee culture is brought to life through a seasonal coffee programme in collaboration with Illy. Bar Rouge is a stylish wine bar offering chic sparkling, rose and aperitivo, while Caz Bar is a lively cocktail bar with expert mixologists creating specialty beverages served with a delectable selection of Mediterranean tapas.

With authenticity at its heart, Caza offers traditional Moroccan flavours served with a contemporary twist where the tagine presentation and ceremonious traditional Moroccan tea service are a highlight.

Radiant all-day dining venue, La Gourmandise, is an interactive, open-kitchen experience serving international cuisine.

Guests relaxing by the pool can enjoy tasty, light bites and refreshing beverages at L’Apero.

Elite members, clubroom, and suite guests enjoy exclusive access to the club lounge, complete with an outdoor terrace experience, offering daily complimentary breakfast and a happy hour.

For relaxation and well-being, 1,600 square meters of recreation facilities include temperature-controlled indoor and outdoor pools, Le Spa, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam rooms, and a fully equipped gym open 24 hours a day.

Le Meridien Family Kids Club features a separate check-in counter where children have access to fun-filled experiences including colourful games and cooking lessons with their Le Méridien passport, as part of the Le Meridien Family Programme.

Target segment

Mouawad explained that Le Meridien City Center targets both the family and the business segment, especially as it provides all the comfort and privacy that Qatari and Gulf families seek. The hotel has all the ingredients that attract businesspersons to hold their conferences and meetings. It provides great facilities for meetings and events with over 900 square metres of versatile space including eight flexible meeting rooms and the Les Champ Elysees ballroom, which can accommodate up to 420 people. Social and business gatherings by Le Meridien’s creative meetings programme are designed to encourage lateral thinking and freedom of imagination.

Regarding the competition in the hospitality and hotel sector in Qatar, Mouawad said, “The local tourism sector is characterised by its well-established infrastructure and the diversity of its components. Personally, I see competition between hotel brands as an opportunity to provide the best to serve hospitality and guests through high and unique services, which enhances the local tourism industry.”
