More than 90 percent of people infected with coronavirus in Qatar do not exhibit any symptoms, said Hamad Medical Corporation’s acting head of intensive care department Dr. Ahmed al Muhammad.
In most circumstances, studies show such patients become non-infectious around 10 days after they contracted the virus, he said, adding that by then the virus in their bodies is overcome by the immune system, he added.
The doctor pointed out that a few COVID-19 patients do develop mild flu-like symptoms. Even they become not contagious around the 10th day, he added.
Dr Muhammad said symptomatic patients become non-contagious five days after the symptoms like coughing and sore throat have disappeared.
