Tribune News NetworkDohaQatar's population reached 2.80 million in April from 2.77 million a year ago, recording a growth of 1.2 percent, according to the latest figures from the Planning and Statistics Authority. Month-on-month, the April figure is a 0.3 percent jump from March’s 2.79 million.In the May edition of PSA’s monthly report featuring statistics in April, the authority said the male population in Qatar stands at 2.044 million and that of females at 760,256.While the male population in April fell 0.2 percent from the same month last year (2.049 million), it edged up 0.4 percent from 2.037 million in March 2020.The female population in April rose 5.2 percent year-on-year from 722,750 and 0.3 percent month-on-month from 758,065.As many as 150 couples got married in Qatar in April as against 250 in March and 325 in April 2019. Divorces, on the other hand, numbered 12 in April as against 81 in March and 98 in April 2019.While live births in Qatar stood at 152 in April against 253 in March and 436 in April 2019, 44 people died in April against 68 in March and 58 in April 2019.
