Minister of Sports and Youth HE Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali on Tuesday inaugurated the Celebration Building of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) in Al Rayyan. The ceremony was also attended by QREC Chairman
HE Issa bin Mohamed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of Istithmar Holding Moataz Al Khayat and Vice Chairman of Istithmar Holding Ramez Al Khayat. The inauguration included a detailed presentation of the building and the facilities and services it will provide to its visitors, including two main halls, Al Thuraya and Arabesque, to receive all kinds of occasions and functions. The unique designs drawn from Qatari heritage have been used in the construction of the building, to reflect the image of the hospitable Qatar of today. The ‘Al Thuraya’ hall is characterized by a harmonious mixture of floral and geometric motifs that are reflected on the walls, floor and ceilings of the hall, forming a round panel that evokes the architectural style of medieval palaces. The ‘Arabesque’ hall is based on an architectural design that reflects complete embodiment of the civilisations of the East, where the design forms a panel that contains Qatari, Ottoman and Asian elements from the Far East.
