Midfielder Salman Al Faraj will lead Saudi Arabia’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 campaign after shaking off a shoulder injury.

The Al Hilal SFC star, who captains Saudi Arabia, suffered the injury in a friendly against Iceland last week.

Saudi Arabia head coach Herve Renard had expressed worry earlier this week on Al Faraj’s fitness and his inclusion will be a huge boost for the West Asian side preparing for their sixth appearance at the FIFA World Cup. There were no major surprises named in the squad with Salem Al Dawsari and the exciting Firas Al Buraikan to power their push.

Saudi Arabia, who are in Group C, open their campaign against Argentina on November 22 with Poland (November 26) and Mexico (November 30) to follow.
