A QR60 fee charged from Indian expatriates for services related to the Qatar's amnesty plan has been waived, according to Ambassador of India to Qatar HE P Kumaran.
The ambassador revealed this during an interaction with some Indian journalists at the embassy in Doha on Thursday.
"Not many Indians have come forward to utilise the Qatar amnesty plan and a campaign to spread more awareness within the community will be launched in this regard in association with Indian Cultural Centre and other socio-cultural organisations," the ambassador said.
The process for outsourcing the consular services such as visa, issuing of new passport and certificate attestations are also under consideration and new service centres will open at Al Hilal, Salwa and Al Khor."Tender will be invited in two weeks' time," Kumaran said.
The ambassador also urged the Indian expatriates to follow the embassy's Twitter account and utilise new digital apps to access latest information and lodge complaints relating to the consular services."The embassy wants to increase its Twitter followers to 500, 000," the ambassador added.
