The millions of football fans who have arrived in Qatar from all over the world to watch the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 matches are experiencing an outstanding sporting atmosphere in the host country.
The Fan Zones at Al Bidda, Souq Waqif and the Corniche, are the most sought-after destinations for football fans to enjoy and live the celebration. The fansare of the opinion that Qatar has portrayed the honourable image of the Arab and Islamic world by hosting the World Cup.
A group of England supporters spotted at the Corniche said that the moment they set foot at Hamad International Airport they knew they are in for a whole new level of a World Cup. Jacob, one of the English supporters, said he was impressed by the fact that the stadiums, Fan Zones and all tourist destinations are close to one another. This has helped him tour the country better and enjoy as many events as possible while getting a closer look at the Qatari culture.
“The successful organisation and distribution of events at several locations, taking into account the facilitation of access to and exit from all World Cup stadiums, is impressive. The venues are accessible by free-of-charge metro service and it has greatly facilitated the movement of fans,” he explained
Al Bidda and Souq Waqif reflect one-of-a-kind image of this version of the World Cup, where tens of thousands of fans flock to enjoy the football vibe and the events being held on the sidelines of the tournament.
Arab supporters are seen engaging in group cheering, each one is wearing the jersey representing his country.“The development of Qatar in all fields is incredible, and the tolerance of the Qatari people and the way they are engaging with us and cheering up our team are heartwarming. The Qatari hospitality and the preservation of their customs, traditions and national identity are seen clearly everywhere. I find it a very honourable aspect of all Arabs,” said Sami, a Tunisian supporter, who said he’s never missed a day without coming to Souq Waqif and show support to his team.
Al Bidda is also witnessing a great turnout of guests and fans of the World Cup. The varied activities on the main stage include musical shows, Arabic songs, international music and DJs throughout the day.
During this daily festive atmosphere, fans were spotted happily engaging with their friends and families. Many of them have embraced the culture in their own way by wearing ‘ghutras’ and headscarves in the colours of the flags of their countries, in addition to their team jerseys, chanting songs to support their teams.
The festival seem to have a harmonious and joyful spirit, as beyond all cultural differences and backgrounds, football is the common and solo way for people to get together and celebrate in one spirit.
