Qatar’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) for October 2022 reached 154.49 points, recording an increase of 19.85 percent year-on-year, compared to the same period in 2021, while it recorded a decrease of 5.8 percent compared to September 2022.
According to the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) data showed on Wednesday, a decrease in the mining and quarrying sector index by 6.59 percent compared to the previous month was recorded as a result of the decrease in the prices of the extraction of crude oil petroleum and natural gas with the same percentage.
While ‘Other mining and quarrying’ remained unchanged, when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (October 2021) the IPI of Mining increased by 23.86 percent.
In the manufacturing sector, the index showed a decrease of 0.84 percent compared to the previous month (September 2022). The groups showed an increase including ‘Manufacture of refined petroleum products by 3.73 percent, ‘Manufacture of basic metals’ by 1.86 percent, and ‘Manufacture of rubber and plastics products’ by 0.71 percent.
However, a decrease was recorded in ‘Manufacture of food products’ by 0.1 percent, followed by ‘Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products’ by 0.05 percent, and ‘Manufacture of beverages’ and ‘Manufacture of Cement and non-metallic mineral products’ by 0.01 percent each, while no change was recorded in ‘Printing and reproduction of recorded media’ in October.
On the other hand, in terms of annual change, compared to October 2021, a decrease of 0.42 percent was recorded, and that due to the decrease in ‘Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products’ by 6.31 percent, followed by ‘Printing and reproduction of recorded media’ by 3.49 percent.
An increase was recorded in ‘Manufacture of rubber and plastics products’ by 23.21 percent, followed by ‘Manufacture of refined petroleum products’ by 13.11 percent, ‘Manufacture of basic metals’ by 7.45 percent, ‘Manufacture of Cement and other non-metallic mineral products’ by 5.22 percent, “Manufacture of food products” by 3.22 percent and “Manufacture of beverages” by 1.06 percent.
In the electricity and gas supply sector, an increase of 2.8 percent was noticed compared to the previous month (September 2022). Compared with the corresponding month (October 2021), an increase of 6.9 percent was recorded.
In the water supply sector, a decrease of 1.42 percent was recorded compared to September 2022, and by 4.06 percent compared to October 2021.
