"Since most vehicles have their tank on the left, the corresponding lines at fuel stations are always longer, compared to the bays for vehicles with tanks on their right. With longer fuel hoses, fuel station attendants will be able to fill fuel whether the tank is on the left or right," the official said.
The move will go a long way in addressing the problem of long lines at fuel stations, which are becoming congested and leading to road blocks, the official said.
An official at Woqod's Al Hilal petrol station confirmed that the length of hoses is being increased to reach fuel tanks of vehicle on both sides of the lanes.
Woqod has started experimenting longer fuel hoses in a number of stations to study the success of the move. The hoses length must meet safety conditions, a source said.
