Qatar University (QU) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Sports and Youth to enhance joint cooperation and benefit from the joint capabilities of each other in developing, organising, managing and implementing training programmes and courses to qualify cadres working in sports professions.
The MoU signing was attended by QU’s College of Education Dean Dr Hessa H. Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth HE Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham and Vice-President for Student Affairs Dr Eiman Mustafawi, as well as a number of professors in the College of Education.
The agreement was signed by QU’s Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr Omar Al Ansari and Director of the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s Sports Affairs Issa Al Harami.
The MoU paves the way for both parties to work together to develop certifications for the accreditation of fitness trainers and cadres working in sports professions, including the fulfilment of their basic professional competence based on a specific international standard.
The signing of the pact comes as part of the belief in the vital and effective role of QU’s cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, represented in this agreement by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, as QU is keen to continue playing a role in enabling the various sectors of the state to benefit from its resources and expertise to implement its strategy and achieve its goals.
