As the FIFA World Cup 2022 enters the knock-out stage, Souq Al Wakrah beach and the traditional market have become preferred hangout destinations for football fans and tourists. The beach is open to tourists and families, and a large number of people spend their leisure time with the amenities provided in the area to cater to the needs of people of all ages.

Lucas, a Canadian football fan, who was at the beach to enjoy swimming, said, "The media propaganda against Qatar related to FIFA World Cup proved wrong. I was also a little prejudiced because of the propaganda. But soon after I set my foot on Qatar all my hesitations vanished. Here, I can enjoy the beach like any other beautiful beaches in the world. I haven’t felt any restriction anywhere. I think, a large number of tourists will arrive in Qatar in the coming days.FIFA World Cup will rewrite the history of Qatar.”

Visitors can safely swim in the sea under the watchful eyes of lifeguards or just relax on the beach. There are changing rooms and shower facilities to help beach-goers.

The beach-front restaurant that offers traditional Arab, European and Indian dishes attract many.These restaurants have also rearranged the seats to give a panoramic view of the beach to the visitors.

An Irish football fan Riordan said, "I have visited most of the attractive destinations in Doha. But I am really excited to visit this beach-front Souq situated out of Doha for the first time. With the same level excitement, I spend my free hours on this beach. When feeling hungry, I can select a restaurant of my own choice and enjoy a wide variety of cuisines.”

Dates and honey markets are the other attractions at Souq Al Wakra. There are also shops that sell hand-woven clothes and handicrafts. Within walking distance from the Souq is a beautiful fishing harbour where traditional fishing boats dock.

Football fans can reach the Souq via bus services arranged by the World Cup organizers.

A Manager at a restaurant said, "Pleasant weather and crowds of fans make the Souq more vibrant. Many of the families spend the entire day at the beach. We all are prepared to cater to their needs and offer a variety of food.”

The beach is open from 10am to 6pm, while the restaurants remain open until midnight.
