Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) on Saturday released the ninety-fifth issue of the monthly Statistics of Building Permits and Building Completion certificates issued by all municipalities of Qatar.

Building permits and building completion certificates data is of particular importance as it is considered an indicator for the performance of the construction sector which in turn occupies a significant position in the national economy.

It is worth mentioning that the release of this monthly data comes under the joint cooperation between the Planning and Statistics Authority and the Ministry of Municipality to make use of the existing electronic link between thetwo sides.

In a quick review of the data on building permits issued during the month of November 2022, according to their geographical distribution, municipality of Al Rayyan comes at the top of the municipalities where the number of building permits issued were 207 permits, 32 percent of the total issued permits, while municipality of Al Doha came in second place with 157 permits, 24 percent, followed by Al Wakrah municipality with 112 permits, 17 percent, then municipality of Al Da’ayen with 78 permits, 12 percent.

The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Al Khor 30 permits (5 percent), Umm Slal 28 permits (4 percent), Al Sheehaniya 17 permits (3 percent), and finally Al Shammal 16 permits (2 percent).

In terms of type of permits issued, data indicates that the new building permits (residential and non-residential) constitutes 37 percent (236 permits) of the total building permits issued during the month of November 2022, while the percentage of additions permits constituted 60 percent (384 permits), and finally fencing permits with 4 percent (25 permits).

By analyzing new residential buildings permits data, we find that villas’ top the list, accounting for 87 percent (138 permits) of all new residential buildings permits, followed by apartments buildings permits by 7 percent (11 permits) and dwellings of housing loans permits by 5 percent(8 permits).

On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings permits with 32 percent (25 permits), followed by governmental buildings with 31 percent (24 permits), then industrial buildings like workshops, factories with 21 percent(16 permits).

Comparing number of permits issued in November 2022 with those issued in the previous month we noted a general decrease of 34 percent. The decrease was noted in the all of the municipalities like Um Slal (56 percent), Al Da’ayen (49 percent), Al Wakrah (39 percent), Al Doha (32 percent), Al Sheehaniya (23 percent), Al Rayyan (22 percent), Al Khor (14 percent) and finally Al Shammal (11 percent).

In a quick review of the data on building completion certificates issued during the month of November 2022, according to their geographical distribution, it was found that Al Da’ayen municipality come at the top of the municipalities where the number of building completion certificates issued were 128 certificates, (25 percent) of the total issued certificates, while municipality of Al Rayyan came in second place with 124 certificates, (24 percent), followed by municipality of Al Doha with 103 certificates (20 percent), then Al Wakrah municipality with 86 certificates, (17 percent).

The rest of the municipalities were as follows: Umm Slal 38 certificates 7 percent, Al Khor 15 certificates (3 percent), Al Sheehaniya 10 certificates (2 percent) and Al Shammal nine certificates (2 percent).

In terms of type of certificates issued, data indicates that the new building completion certificates (residential and non-residential) constitutes 75 percent (385 certificates) of the total building certificates issued during the month of November 2022, while the percentage of additions certificates constituted 25 percent (128 certificates).

By analysing new residential buildings completion certificates data, we find that villas’ top the list, accounting for 75 percent (221 certificates) of all new residential buildings completion certificates, followed by apartments buildings certificates by 20 percent (59 certificates), then dwellings of housing loans by 4 percent (11 certificates).

On the other hand, commercial buildings were found to be in the forefront of non-residential buildings completion certificates with 62 percent (55 certificates), followed by industrial buildings like workshops and factories with 24 percent (21 certificates), then governmental buildings with 10 percent (9 certificates).

Comparing number of certificates issued in November 2022 with those issued in the previous month we noted a general decrease of 0.4 percent. This decrease was clearly noted in the municipalities of Al Sheehanyia (60 percent) and Al Wakrah (31 percent). On the other hand, there was a clear increase in the municipality of Al Shammal (50 percent), Al Da’ayen (19 percent), Al Doha (18 percent), Al Rayyan (9 percent), Al Khor (7 percent) and Umm Slal (3 percent).
