In a move to offer more entertainment options to visitors, the Public Parks Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MEC) plans to have open-air theatres (HawaScene) in all public parks in the near future.
As an experiment, the HawaScene programme will be launched in Dahl Al Hamam Park on Thursday.
The HawaScene programme, which runs until next March, will cover all parks depending upon the success of the experiment.
The first-of-its-kind initiative is part of the celebrations of the Qatar National Day. The Public Parks Department, in association with Smart Global Company, Vodafone Qatar and Kia Motors, will run this initiative.
The HawaScene programme includes animation film shows from 7pm to 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays every week. The movies will be played on a screen measuring eight metres in width and five metres in height. Loudspeakers will be installed in the park.
