Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani visited on Thursday morning three public schools — Omar bin Al Khattab Independent Preparatory School for Boys, Al Bayan Second Primary School for Girls and Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys.


He inspected the procedures and precautionary measures taken by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Public Health to achieve maximum safety for school students, and the teaching and administrative staff of schools, to prevent the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
During the visit, HE the Prime Minister was briefed on the various educational equipment and health preparations made for the new academic year 2021/2020 in light of the pandemic, in addition to inspecting a number of classrooms, scientific laboratories, isolation rooms, and halls.


The prime minister also attended a part of the lessons and exchanged discussions with students about their study experience and distance learning, and in this regard, His Excellency stressed the importance of preserving public health and educating young people about the need to adhere to the health measures taken, praising the efforts of the education sector to continue distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and to enhance the utilization of technological progress in this field.
The prime minister was accompanied during the visit by HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari and a number of their Excellencies senior officials of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
"We congratulate our children for returning to school despite the exceptional circumstances caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic, and after the state has taken all safety measures for students, teaching staff and administration in all of Qatar's schools. With perseverance and everyone's cooperation, we will overcome the challenges and it will be a successful academic year, God willing," the prime minister said in a tweet on Thursday.
