The finale of the National Day 2016 Communication Championships Contests hosted by ICC One in association with the Qatar National Day 2016 Associated Activities Organising Committee and DPS Modern Indian School - Students segment, was recently held at the DPS Modern Indian School auditorium.
The chief guest was Qatar National Day Celebrations Security Committee Vice President Major Nasser Abdullah al Suwaidi and the guests of honour were Doha Bank Corporate and Commercial Banking Head Krishnan CK, Internal Security Force's Captain Khalifa al Kuwari and Lekhwiya Warrant Officer Jassim al Hammadi.
The audience witnessed the Junior Champion speakers of Qatar display their persuasive and humorous talents. In the Independent Schools segment hosted by Contest Chair Suhur Saeed, the local talents were a revelation.
The contestants were give two topics Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammed al Thani, the founder of Qatar, a visionary leader, and Qatar's Educational Progress. All the three winners spoke on the first topic.
Nouraldeen Abbas Moustafa of Ibn Khaldoon Preparatory School Boys was crowned the champion. Emad Yousef al Khateeb of Ibn Khaldoon Preparatory School Boys came second and Rania Raeed Amouri of Al Bayan Preparatory School Girls came third. The other four contestants were given consolation prizes.
In the humorous segment hosted by contest chair Niloufer Samel, Nishit Kumar Singhal of Qatar Gavel Club was crowned champion with his speech titled Mein Kampf (My struggle). Aditya Vinod of Bhavan's School came second with the speech - A Beautiful Melodrama. Deepa Kale of Wakra Gavel Club came third with her speech titled I Am A Coward.
In the inspirational segment hosted by Contest Chair Lornalyn Tallod, Aania Shah of Cambridge School was crowned champion with her speech titled Wipe it away. Saanvi Sudesh of Birla Public School came second with her speech titled Life Is A Race while Helmin Jinoz of Bhavan's School was placed third. His speech was titled The Greatest Miracle.
The master of ceremonies for the event was Grazyna Zych and the chief judge was Philip K Cherian.
The prizes were distributed by chief guest Major Nasser Abdullah al Suwaidi, Krishnan CK, Captain Khalifa al Kuwari and Warrant Officer Jassim al Hammadi.
The winners received trophies for their school, consolation prizes and gifts.
The winners will receive their trophies and gifts at the Grand Finale to be held at the Radisson Blu on December 16.
The audience enjoyed a lucky draw where 10 prizes were drawn. The evening culminated with a sumptuous dinner.
