FIFA announced Thursday that Polish referee Syzmon Marciniak will officiate Argentina and France in the final of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, scheduled next Sunday at Lusail Stadium.
Marciniak was the referee of the match in which Argentina won against France 2-1 in the second round, as well as the match in which France won against Denmark by the same result in the group stage.
He has been in charge of matches in Champions League since the beginning of his participation in the 2012 continental tournament.
Marciniak previously led the match in which France beat Sweden 1-0 in the group stage of the European league in 2020.
He will be assisted in the final match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by Pawel Sokolniki and Tomasz Listkiewicz. The trio officiated matches at the 2018 World Cup and 2016 European cup.
