Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn in Addis Ababa on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing, especially in the fields of economy and investment. They also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern.
The foreign minister also met with Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome.
The foreign minister conveyed greetings of the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and his wishes of progress and prosperity to the Ethiopian president and the Ethiopian people.
On his part, President Teshome entrusted the minister with his greetings to HH the Emir, wishing him good health and further progress, development and prosperity for Qatar.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of boosting them in addition to a set of issues of mutual interest.
The foreign minister also held a session of talks with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Workneh Gebeyehu.
Sheikh Mohammed said relations between Qatar and Ethiopia are historic, expressing hope of developing them at all levels.
Speaking during a joint press conference with his Ethiopian counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman said the two countries drew a roadmap to interpret the joint programmes on the ground and push forward their ties, particularly in the fields of investment, economy, tourism and security.
He noted that businessmen in both countries will exchange visits to learn about investment opportunities.
He said Qatar counts heavily on Ethiopia's role in promoting international security and peace through its membership in the Security Council from 2017 to 2019, especially regarding regional issues, looking forward to its positive contributions to put an end to the suffering of the people in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen.
On his part, the Ethiopian foreign minister expressed his country's aspiration for promoting the political, economic and security partnership with Qatar.
