Speaker of the Shura Council HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim met yesterday with Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates Saqr Ghobash and his accompanying delegation, who are currently visiting the country to attend the final match of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Speaker of the Shura Council welcomed his UAE Federal National Council counterpart and members of the delegation, noting the brotherly relations existing between the two countries.
For his part, the speaker of the UAE Federal National Council congratulated Qatar on the success of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, praising the impressive and distinguished organisation of the tournament, which is being held for the first time in the Arab region.
He also congratulated Qatar, HH the Amir, the government and the Qatari people on the occasion of the National Day, expressing his admiration for the renaissance and progress Qatar is witnessing in various fields and wishing Qatar further progress, growth and prosperity.
During the meeting, they reviewed the fraternal relations between the two countries, the existing aspects of cooperation in the parliamentary field and the ways to enhance them.
The two sides stressed the need to enhance coordination of positions in regional and international parliamentary forums in order to achieve the interests and aspirations of the two peoples and support the interests of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
The meeting was attended by a number of members and officials of the Shura Council, and the delegation accompanying the speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates.
