For the first time, Qatar Charity (QC) organised two volunteer camps, titled ‘Volunteer of Tomorrow’, for boys and girls, separately. The camps aimed to instill the values of volunteering in the participants’ hearts and acquaint those visiting the country during the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar with the humanitarian contributions of QC and Qatar’s humanitarian work across the world.
The camps focused on improving the knowledge and skills of the participants theoretically and practically. The theoretical aspect of the camps included the importance of volunteering and its fields, media coverage skills, and conducting interviews with the public.
Practically, the boys acquainted the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar winners with QC and its relief and development projects, in addition to implementing media coverage in conjunction with the Qatar World Cup 2022. The girls manufactured and distributed shawls representing the flags of the countries participating in the World Cup, in addition to bracelets.
“Through this initiative, we aim to instill the values of volunteering, work to educate the boys and girls at this age on volunteering, and develop their capabilities so that they can be the volunteers of tomorrow,” said the head of the Initiatives and Volunteering section at QC Fatima Jumah Al-Mohannadi.
“Through this camp, we seek to provide the participants with skills that will help them perform voluntary tasks and highlight the efforts of Qatar in the fields of community development and humanitarian work,” said trainer Mohamed Shaheen.
“We aim through this programme to honour the guests of Qatar, as the female participants presented the gifts that they made by themselves,” said trainer Ghaya Salah.
The participants, both boys and girls, expressed their happiness at learning new skills through the two voluntary camps.
“I participated in this handicraft workshop to learn new skills, and I am happy to make the stuffs to distribute to the fans of the World Cup,” said Sarah Al-Dosari
“I learned new media skills regarding the method of interviews and how to ask questions, and I will seek to utilize these experiences in the future in the field of humanitarian work,” said the trainee, Abdullah Al-Hajri, thanking Qatar Charity for organizing the camp.
