Members of the Pakistani community in Qatar organised a colourful event to mark Qatar National Day with fervour.

A large number of community members, poets and intellectuals gathered at a function hosted by the head of Pakistan Community Qatar, Malak Nawar Khan Wazir, at Dallah Driving Academy.

PIA Country Manager Mohammad Waqas Malik, Sales Executive Kabiruddin Siraj and Israr Malazai were among prominent members of the community who attended the event.

Director of Afghan TV Syed Adnan Shah compered the programme while Nasir Wazir played the role of co-anchor in an impressive manner.

Congratulating the Qatari leadership and citizens on the auspicious occasion, Malak Nawar Khan Wazir said: “We should celebrate QND with the same enthusiasm with which we celebrate national days of our country because Qatar is our second home. The government and the people of Qatar treat us with great respect so it is incumbent upon us to remain united and work whole-heartedly for the development and prosperity of Qatar while respecting local rules and regulations.”

He also congratulated the Qatari leadership for the great success in organising the best-ever edition of the FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on the occasion, PIA Country Manager Mohammad Waqas Malik congratulated Qatari citizens and residents on the happy occasion of National Day and on hosting the historical mega sports event. While highlighting the improved services rendered by Pakistan’s national carrier, he announced highly competitive one-way and round-trip fares with added baggage allowance for different destinations in Pakistan. He called upon his compatriots to support the national carrier by making PIA the first choice for all their travelling requirements.

“In response to the popular demand of the Pakistani community in Qatar to schedule convenient flights on weekend, we are pleased to announce that we have launched two additional flights – one to/from Doha-Peshawar on Thursday night and the other to/from Doha-Islamabad on Saturday night.”

Currently, PIA has seven weekly flights to Pakistan with an overall flight punctuality of 97.6 percent.

PIA’s Doha office has taken a number of measures for the convenience and comfort of its passengers as per the vision of the new country manager.

“Community service is my first priority. My doors are always open for my countrymen. Should you have any complaint or suggestion to further improve our services, please feel free to contact me,” remarked Malik, who worked at PIA’s Islamabad office before his present appointment in Doha.
