‘Save the Dream’ announced on Wednesday the appointment of Isabella Echeverri, a Colombian professional football player and Pan-American Games gold medalist, as the organization’s latest ambassador in 2022.
With Isabella’s appointment, the 28-year-old international footballer will join Save the Dream’s internationally renowned champions, which currently includes Alessandro Del Piero. To name a few, Christian Karembeu, David Trezeguet, Fernando Hierro, Fernando Sanz, Tegla Loroupe, Rosa Mota, Penny Heyns, Giusy Versace, Sheikh Fahad Bin Khalid Al Thani, Nuno Delgado, Fiona May, and Honey Thaljieh.
Save the Dream is a global initiative led by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) and supported by Ooredoo, the technology partner, to empower youth by providing safe access to sport and its educational and social values.
Isabella, a centre back for Liga MX Femenil club CF Monterrey and the Colombia women’s national team, agreed to support Save the Dream’s mission by promoting positive values of sport among youth, particularly girls, and breaking down barriers and serotypes through the power of football.
Isabella has been a member of Colombia’s national team for the last ten years, making history in tournaments such as the Olympics and the Women’s World Cup. She has been the captain of every team she has ever been a part of and has two bachelor’s degrees and three master’s degrees.
Speaking on her new role, Isabella Echeverri said: “It’s a great honor to become one of the Ambassadors of Save the Dream. I am so happy to be part of this global initiative and help to create a future where girls and women can have the right to safely access sport and its educational and social values.
I grew upbelieving that dreams had no limits. Football has the power to unite people, dispel stereotypes, and break down social barriers.”
