A total of 150 student volunteers, 20 teaching and non-teaching staff and parents of MES Indian School who rendered creditable service by volunteering in various functional areas of the FIFA World Cup 2022 were honoured at the MES Indian School.

At a felicitation ceremony held on December 29, chief guest MC Muhammed, director, cultural/co-curricular activities, MES Governing Board, congratulated the volunteering members of the school for their active and remarkable participation in the FIFA World Cup which enabled the smooth conduct of the mega event.

The student volunteers among others included flag bearers and ball bearers. Volunteers from the girls’ and boys’ sections of the school spoke of the unique experiences they had in the execution of their service.

Further, about 20 students, who participated in the five-day Generation Amazing Goal 22 programme to celebrate the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 which was conducted under the patronage of UNESCO, and in partnership with FIFA Foundation, Qatar Foundation, Qatar Ministry of Youth & Sports, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and Qatar Football Association were also felicitated during the ceremony.

M.E.S Indian School is the only Asian expatriate school to have received the honour of being invited to the event of Generation Amazing Goal 22.

The day’s ceremony began with a graceful welcome dance. Catherine Roy presented the welcome address while Nawfa Ismail of XI-J, Shaikha Musafir of XII-I, Steffi Mathews of X-S, Parvathy Sampath of XII-I, Aisha Mohammed Sathar of VIII-K, Haya Jahan of IX-P, Mohammed Naji of XII-B and Master Roshan of XII-A spoke exclusively of Generation Amazing Goal 2022.

The children who were the ball bearers, their parents and teachers spoke about their experiences during the FIFA World Cup 2022. A group of boys showcased their football tricks and hacks in a skilful manner. Rema Devi, from the Department of English, proposed a vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by the teachers of the Department of Physical Education.
