The 14th edition of the Qatar International Falconry and Hunting Festival (Marmi) 2023 kicked off on Sunday, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani. The festival, organised by Qatari Society of Al Gannas, will run until January 28.

Various competitions were held on the first day of the event, with the participation of local and international teams.

Marmi festival aims to document and promote the heritage of falconry, which is on the UNESCO Heritage List since November 2010.

Qatar was among the first countries to make efforts for the preservation of the world heritage, not only in Qatar, but also in many Arab and foreign countries. The Marmi is considered one of the largest festivals specialized in the field of falconry and hunting in the region.(TNN)
