Qatar Stars League (QSL) announced on Sunday that a number of matches in the upcoming rounds of the 2022- 23 season will be postponed in coordination with the clubs over some players’ participation with their national teams in the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup (Khaleeji Zain 25), due to be held January 6-19 in Iraq’s Basra.

According to the announcement, Week 8 matches will be held next Wednesday and Thursday, Week 9 will be played on January 11 and 12, and Week 10 on January 17 and 18.

In the Week 8, Al Duhail plays with Al Gharafa at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium next Wednesday, Al Rayyan faces Al Sailiya at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium, and the leaders Al Arabi against Al Ahli at the same stadium on Thursday.

The matches that were postponed are Umm Salal vs. Al Markhiya, Al Sadd vs. Qatar, and Al Shamal vs. Al Wakrah.

The Al Markhiya vs. Al Shamal clash in Week 9 has also been postponed.

In Week 10, Al Sailiya vs. Al Markhiya and Al Shamal vs. Umm Salal will be postponed to April 25 in case Iraq advanced to the Gulf 25 tournament semi-finals.

Al Arabi lead the table after seven rounds of fixtures, with 16 points from seven games, followed by unbeaten Wakrah on 15 points and Al Duhail a point behind.

Al Sadd, the reigning champions, are in ninth place with seven points from the same number of matches played.
