Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched ‘Nar’aakom’, a bilingual (English and Arabic) mobile application that provides comprehensive healthcare management on-the-go, from accessing upcoming appointments to applying for a health card online. With the launch of Nar’aakom, PHCC has made it easy for the people in Qatar to access digitized services for its 27 health centers, by making health care services easily accessible on the smartphones.
Also PHCC has successfully been awarded with two ISO certification including the ISO 20000 related to IT service management and ISO 27001 related to IT security.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) Managing Director Dr Mariam AbdulMalik said, “Nar’aakom app allows people in Qatar to benefit from many of PHCC's digital services from their smartphones. It is an extension of the digital transformation of health care services that PHCC rolled out early last year.. With the mobile app, we empower people with the ability to access health services anywhere, anytime at their convenience in a secure platform; thus encouraging patients to take ownership of their health. By launching our mobile application not only do we enhance the convenient access to healthcare for everyone, but we also use this powerful tool to continue to place our patient’s safety at the heart of it whilst promoting continuity care.”
She added that with the application allows the patients to access the information and care faster and secure and the power to access anything anywhere at any time.
During COVD-19, PHCC accelerated its digital transformation to facilitate no/minimal-contact care delivery through virtual consultations over the phone and video; a 24x7 Community Call Center; and an electronically-dispensed medication facility with home-delivery service.
The new mobile app, Nar’aakom, provides complete management of services from keeping track of the health card expiry date and online renewal, to accessing the assigned health center and finding your personal assigned family physician. Available for both iphones and android devices, the Nar’aakom app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in Qatar.
PHCC Assistant Managing Director Musallam Mubarak Al Nabit said, “Nar’aakom gives complete control to manage your and your family’s health service requirements. You can request a new appointment at one of PHCC health centers, apply for a change of your assigned health center, or change the assigned family physician. It also allows you to add dependents to your account, so as to manage requests for any of these services on their behalf.”
According to him, people can now view their health card number and see when it expires. The app will allow one to navigate to Hukoomi’s website to renew healthcard online
Executive Director of Health Information & Communication Technology (HICT) at PHCC Alexandra Tarazi said, “There is an opportunity to give an electronic feedback on the application and we look forward to receiving them. We have lots of plans to improve the application. We have plenty of ideas to improve the services. Soon, people will be able to request an electronic copy of their medical records. Also
Patients will also have a quick access to patient portal healthy life and to other applications. We look forward to receiving more feedback from the population.”
Within a year, PHCC has managed to lead the digitalization of health care services in Qatar. In October 2020, PHCC had launched their new website which provides an easy access to all primary care information online. Patients can also access e-services on the PHCC website that allows conducting ‘day-to-day’ administrative business on-line.
