THE Buildings Demolition and Maintenance Committee at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) issued 29 decisions including 23 for demolition and six for maintenance of old buildings in the last four months.
As many as 12 decisions were issued in September, 5 in October, 8 in November and 4 in December of 2016.
It is worth mentioning that the committee was formed at the MME under the Ministerial Decree No. 88 of 2006. The committee specialises in studying the conditions of ramshackle buildings or buildings that need maintenance.
The committee receives reports on such buildings from the municipalities,inspects the buildings if necessary and takes the necessary decision for maintenance and total or partial demolition, according to the safety requirements.
