A vehicle from Qatar has entered Saudi Arabia through the Abu Samra border, marking the first cross-border civilian movement between the two countries in more than three years.
The border remained closed for more than three years following a blockade imposed on Qatar by Saudi and a few other GCC nations in 2017. The blockade was lifted on January 5 when representatives of the nations involved signed a declaration at the 41st GCC Summit held in Al Ula, Saudi Arabia.
A video, tweeted by several Saudi and Qatari social media channels shows a pick-up truck from Qatar entering Saudi and being welcomed by the officials in the Kingdom.
