THE Supreme Judicial Council will henceforth update litigants and defendants on the actions or decisions of the court through SMS, Al Watan newspaper reported.
The SJC has already launched the system and directed concerned authorities to ensure registration of telephone numbers in the statement of claim or orders on petition so that the plaintiff and defendant could receive information from court wherever they were.
The new system will save efforts and time for the plaintiff and defendant as they will not need to go to courts to know the new decisions. The launch of the SMS system assumes special significance in the wake of the ongoing development at the courts as the courts have started to archive all cases electronically. (TNN)
