QATARI Armed Forces celebrated on Wednesday the graduation ceremony for the 7th batch of National Service recruits, in the presence of Minister of State for Defence Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammad al Attiyah, the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces HE Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen al Ghanem and a number of senior military officers and recruits' parents.
The 7th batch of National Service recruits received military and academic programmes and training in infantry, fitness, light weapons, shooting, field battle skills and civil defence, along with programmes on first aid, community culture, self-development and religious events during the course period.
On this occasion, the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces expressed, in a statement to Qatar News Agency, his delight at the graduation of this batch which reflected the evolution and progress of the National Service Authority, thanks to the able guidance of the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, the Commander-in-Chief of the Qatari Armed Forces. He highlighted the significance attached by Qatari Armed Forces to the graduates, and stressed that the country wants its sons to join the military service.
Ghanem pointed out that the 7th batch attended the National Service to the fullest, and received the military programme prepared by the armed forces along with distinct cultural programmes and benefited from the expertise of the experiences of several countries, adding that this was a result of the efforts spared by the specialised committees.
On his part, Brigadier Saeed Hamad al Nuaimi, head of the National Service Authority, praised in this regard the continued support of the Minister of State for Defence Affairs and the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces as well as bodies cooperating with the authority, including the Ministry of Interior or the Lekhwiya Force and General Directorate of Civil Defence, among others.
In a statement, Nuaimi said the number of recruits graduating from secondary school or less and university has reached 820. He pointed out that next batch will join the National Service on January 28, while commending the wise vision of HH the Emir, the Commander-in-Chief of the Qatari Armed Forces, who initiated the National Service Authority in the best interests of the State of Qatar.
