Four heavy vehicles that got stuck on muddy grounds have been impounded using a statute intended to protect Qatari wildlife.

The vehicles — two tankers, a cement mixer and a dumper truck — became stranded after the recent rain made unpaved surfaces soft and mushy. No reason is provided as to why the trucks were in the areas.

The areas, whose locations have not been made public, are believed to be ecologically sensitive and important to preserving Qatar’s flora and fauna.

The seizure was made by the Wildlife Rehabilitation Unit of the Wildlife Development Department, operating under the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

The ministry called on heavy vehicle drivers and campers to desist from driving their vehicles into ecologically-sensitive areas.
