HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani was elected on Thursday as the President of Qatar Olympic Committee for its new term 2017-2020, with Thani bin Abdulrahman al Kuwari elected as Secretary-General.
The election took place during the General Assembly that was held at the committee's headquarters.
HE Sheikh Joaan presided over the assembly which was attended by Secretary-Generals and heads of the Olympic committees.
The committee discussed it's schedule for 2017, the new formation of different sports associations, as well as the committee's progress in terms of qualification for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
At the conclusion of the assembly, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani thanked all previous officials for their efforts and achievement. He called on the new committee to put in more effort to support the Olympic movement in Qatar.
