Please be careful Qatar," the Qatar Meteorology Department said on Twitter on Thursday.The Met department has also called on the public to avoid all marine activities until Saturday as strong northwesterly winds are set to cause a noticeable drop in temperature.Weather charts indicated that the country would be affected by fresh to strong northwesterly winds from Wednesday night to Friday, wind speeds ranging between 15 and 25 KT, the QMD said in a statement on Tuesday.
Waves might rise as high as 14 feet in some areas when wind gusts exceed 40 KT, the QMD said, adding that generally, the wave height should stay within 7 to 11 FT during the period.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature will range between 18 and 24° C and the minimums between 8 and 16°C. The temperature might even plunge lower in southern and outer regions, it said.
