A research team from the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM) at Qatar University (QU) is developing high-quality and low-cost battery packs, with innovative materials used in the negative and positive electrodes of the next generation of batteries that operate on lithium and sodium ions.

The CAM team at the center focuses on developing materials to store energy in an inexpensive way, by using microwave synthesis techniques with the aim of significantly reducing the cost of batteries to facilitate their commercial marketing. The CAM managed to develop new materials used in these batteries, in a manner appropriate to the climate of the State of Qatar, by making an innovative combination that was accepted to apply for patent registration in the US.
