Science India Forum (SIF) Qatar, which functions under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in Qatar, has announced the winners of this year’s Qatar Children Science Congress (QCSC).

QCSC is being organised every year since 2015 under a focal theme and sub themes relevant to the contemporary world. This year’s theme was "Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being’.

A total of 164 teams from 19 schools that participated in the event underwent three rounds of evaluation. SIF Qatar expressed its appreciation of all the school principals and guide teachers for ensuring maximum participation in the QCSC-2022 contest.

The project evaluations were conducted by a team of scientists, professionals and technocrats. Out of the 164 participating teams, 49 were shortlisted for the third and final evaluation round that was conducted on Friday November 11, 2022.

All the submitted project reports were assessed by eminent professors, scientists and professionals in the field and trained by NCSC trainers. The projects were assessed by two evaluators in the preliminary rounds and in the final round assessment conducted by consensus among all the evaluators.

The winner (NCSC qualifier) in the Senior Category was Bhavan’s Public School which had fielded its team comprising team leader Adithya Ajith Pillai, team member Ayaan Mohd. Najeeb and guide teacher Arun Kumar Sampathu. The first runner up (NCSC qualifier) was Birla Public School comprising team leader Kishan Ramesh, team member Vikramaditya and guide teacher Sunitha Ramesh. The second runner up was DPS-Modern Indian School whose team comprised team leader was Aditya Shukla, team member Abaan Abdullah Shanid and guide teacher Noushaja Keloth.

The winner in the Junior Category was DPS Modern Indian School. Its team was led by Syeda Aleeza Anaum and had Maairah Rimas Chadkan as team member while Steffi Herald Francis was the guide teacher. The first runner up was Birla Public School comprising team leader Hridul Sreenivasan, team member Alan Ton George Thomas and guide teacher Kalidasan Shanmugam. The second runner up was Rajagiri Public School comprising of team leader Sonit Puri, team member Arush Ranjit and guide teacher Chitra Rajendran.

The top two projects get nominated for the National Children’s Science Congress-NCSC to be held in Ahmedabad, India from January 27th - 31st, 2023. The project team leader of the qualifying team will participate in the NCSC from Qatar with the option of the guide teachers to accompany them on their own accord.

SIF expressed its special thanks to the guide teachers for guiding the students and motivating them at every stage of the competition. It also commended the role of the parents in supporting their children. SIF also acknowledged the genuine efforts made by the young scientists in completing their project works and appreciating the consistent hard work to bring about such innovative projects.
