"Why are there no jobs?"

This seemingly curt query from a Twitter user in Qatar reveals more than just the five words; it shows the all-familiar exasperation, worry, and despair of a job seeker.

And, it must have been apparent to the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau because the Qatar government agency contacted the user within 24 hours of the tweet.

"Please provide us with your personal data, name, personal number, and contact number via private messages, so that we can serve you. Thank you for contacting us,” the bureau responded to the tweet posted by @Fatmmaa_11 on January 10. It followed up with an update on January 12: "We have received your personal data via private messages, and it has been transferred to the relevant team."

On Sunday, the bureau tweeted that job interviews were held at the Qatar Tourism headquarters for those registered through the Kawader platform, in the presence of a representative from the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.

Kawader or the National Employment Platform is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Labour in 2020 to provide the nationals and certain residents with direct opportunities to find jobs in the private and government sector that suits their qualifications.

The platform offers provisions for the beneficiaries to upload their resumes, search for relevant jobs and communicate with potential employers.
