Private schools in Qatar are required to teach Qatar history and Arabic language, according to the latest academic follow-up policy published by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
They are also required to provide Islamic lessons to Muslim students. Besides, they must provide each student with the original basic education sources issued by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
According to the policy, private schools must introduce non-Muslim students to Islamic culture by shedding more light on that through sources of other subjects such as Qatar history and the Arabic language.
The schools must make provision for experienced teachers specialising in these three subjects.
They are also required to implement national and international curriculum standards approved under the educational plan of the school.
They must provide main learning sources issued from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The schools are required to be committed to religious principles and Qatari culture.
They must ensure the absence of matters that contradict Islamic teachings and the community values in the selected sources.
However, these conditions vary in terms of use of resources and number of classes from schools offering Qatari curicculum and community and international schools.
