Qatar Duty Free (QDF) is the official retail partner of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters golf tournament, a thrilling four-day event affectionately called as 'the pearl in Qatar's sporting crown'.
The event will be held at the Doha Golf Club from January 26 to 29. The tournament is part of the European Tour and provides competitors an exciting and challenging environment, with Doha Golf Club playing host to the longest par 72 on the tour.
Players attending this year's 20th anniversary Commercial Bank Qatar Masters include Graeme McDowell, Martin Kaymer, Andy Sullivan, Chris Wood, Ernie Els and Paul Lawrie. Around 100 players will compete for the Mother of Pearl Trophy and prize fund of US$2.5 million.
QDF Senior Vice-President Luis Gasset said:"The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters has been a much celebrated event on Qatar's calendar for the last 20 years, and I am thrilled that we could again be part of this prestigious tournament. It's exciting to see athletes play on a world class golf course - right here in our home of Doha, Qatar."
The QDF is celebrating the tournament with its own booth located in the Public Village. Enthusiasts can take a 'golf-pro selfie' to share with friends on social media, or enjoy an interactive journey to discover QDF's multi-award winning Duty Free shopping experience, hosted by its staff.
"We continue to build Qatar into a leading destination for sports and entertainment and the event showcases Doha to the world, reaching an audience of more than 400 million through television coverage. I wish all players the best for the tournament ahead and I encourage everyone to come along and support these men who are sure to display the very best in golf," Gasset added.
The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters has been held in Doha since 1998 and takes place at the beginning of each year as part of the European Tour.
QDF has been the official retail partner since 2009, with the event attracting over 25,000 people every year.
