"We chose music as a medium to raise money for the earthquake victims since it has a universal approach that transcends beyond cultural and geographical differences. So, we decided to hold a concert for charity and it clicked very well," the Italian envoy added.
Tiziana Cima, consular attache of the Italian embassy, played a key role in organizing the concert."When I proposed to Executive Director of QPO Kurt Meister the idea of holding a charity concert for the earthquake victims of Italy, he agreed to play for free, which was amazing," Cima said.
"After getting a favourable response from QPO, I got in touch with Maestro Alberto Veronesi who agreed to conduct the concert for free since it has a noble purpose. Qatar Airways also agreed to handle all the logistics for free, which turned out to be a great support for this charity concert," she added.
Guest appearance by well-known Qatari singer Ali Abdel Sattar during the concert was a surprise for the audience. The winners of raffle draw were announced at the end of the concert.
