Former Asian player of the year and Qatar’s Abdelkarim Hassan has joined Kuwaiti Premier League side Al Jahra Sports Club.
The club officially announced the signing of the Qatari international player from Al-Sadd Club on Wednesday, but no financial terms were disclosed.
The Qatari International thanked the Al Jahra Sports Club Chairman of the Board of Directors, Attorney Khaled Al-Husseini, as well as the head of the football department, Captain Tawari Madloul.
President of Al Jahra Sports Club, Khaled Al-Jarallah Al-Husseini, welcomed the international star and expressed gratitude to the player’s agent, Sayed Mustafa Kamel, for his efforts in bringing the Qatari football star to the Al-Jahra team.
Some supporters of the Kuwaiti club said the addition of the left back defender is a good “technical addition” to the team. A club supporter stated that the Kuwaiti club is in front of their house and that he will be available for every match, as well as that Al-Jahra and Abdul Karim deserve to be supported.
The left-back, known as ‘Kimo’ around the club, has been a regular at Al Sadd since graduating from the legendary Aspire Academy, having played roughly 200 games for the record QSL champions.
Abdelkarim was a member of Qatar’s historic team that competed in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. His recent contract extension through 2024 was terminated at Al Sadd, and there was no chance for a proper farewell. Furthermore, the Qatar Football Association’s (QFA) recent sanction and suspension of the player all but assured that a return to any Qatari team was out of the question.
