The Open Blitz Chess Tournament organized by the Qatar Chess Training Center under the supervision of the Qatar Chess Association (QCA) concluded with a large and wide participation of 94 players.
The competition was held in the blitz chess method according to the Swiss system of 9 rounds of 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move, in the presence of Mohamed Al Mudahka, President, QCA.
Filipino Loyola Rawlinson claimed the title garnering 8.5 points ahead of runners-up Indian player Syed Abdul Qadir. Argentinian Christian was 3rd while Egyptian Mahmoud Badr finished 4th.
Filipino Ryan Mendouza was 5th, Algerian Jamal Verhi 6th while Indian Albin Sajjan and Syrian Muhammad Ptah ended 7th and 8th respectively.
Mohamed Al Mudahka, President, QCA, said that the tournament was on time and witnessed great excitement among the participants, and this began clearly with the convergence of points at the end of the competitions, pointing out that the tournament had a large participation.
He stressed, “The establishment of such various activities and events on an ongoing basis has several positives, including expanding the game further in Qatar and preparing a conscious chess generation that is able to honourably represent our national teams in international events stressing that the coming period will witness many important and powerful tournaments that will organized by QCA.”
