The 74th Republic Day of India was marked at the Embassy of India in Doha on Thursday, January 26, with great fervour and enthusiasm with the participation of more than 300 members of the Indian community.
Ambassador of India to Qatar HE Dr Deepak Mittal hoisted the National Flag on the Embassy premises followed by the singing of the national anthem.
The ambassador read out the President of India’s address on the Republic Day. He highlighted that 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of full diplomatic relations between India and Qatar.
He commended the Indian community for being "a living bridge between the two countries” and for their contributions in strengthening the historic bonds of friendship between the two countries.
Children from Indian schools in Qatar and community members rendered patriotic songs and performed dances.
The event was held in a hybrid format with simultaneous live streaming on social media handles and on the YouTube channel of the Embassy to enable attending the event virtually.
