Doha Modern Indian School (DMIS) celebrated its 18th Annual Day COSMICA 2022-23 with a two-day cultural extravaganza in a scintillating and spectacular manner in the open-air auditorium of the school on January 25 and 26.
The gala was graced by a galaxy of distinguished dignitaries besides thousands of spectators who witnessed the exuberant and stunning festival that emblazoned the exquisite artistic talents of the students.
This year’s Annual Day celebration was dedicated to the theme ‘The Discovery of India’, exploring the diversity of India. The event comprised a variety of dances, skit, mash ups, captivating choirs and mimes, represented the glorious tradition of India and its culture.
Mariam Al Khouri, RCC of the Taleb Group of Schools, was the chief guest on the inaugural day, while Priyanka Bajaj Sibal, the winner of the prestigious title ‘Mrs Queen of the World India 2022’ was the chief guest for the second day.
Jayashankar Pillai, director of the Taleb Group Schools, was the guest of honour of the 18th Annual Day celebration.
Sabu Thomas, academic auditor of the Taleb Group of schools; Padmini Venkatesh, principal of Cambridge International School; Ozmetin, principal of the Cambridge school; Ogus, principal of Beta Cambridge school; and principals of various schools graced the occasion with their indelible presence along with the parents and distinguished guests.
Congratulating the school on the occasion, Priyanka Bajaj Sibal complimented all the participants for their ecstatic performances and appreciated the multifaceted talents of the youngsters of DMIS.
Jayashankar Pillai, guest of honour, remarked the school’s commitment in taking every necessary step to preserve and promote the interest of its students and to perfect them in their scholastic and co-scholastic endeavours.
The chief guest of the second day events Priyanka Bajaj Sibal in her speech shared her own life experience of achieving success in life. “Failures should never put us down and instead, they should further motivate and make us stronger,” she said.
Principal of the school Sibi V Joseph presented the school annual report, which highlighted the significant achievements of students in the curricular and co-curricular domains during the academic year 2022-23.
The winners of the prestigious Taleb Scholarship and Special Awards, meritorious students of Classes X & XII CBSE examinations 2021 -22 and the subject toppers received awards and mementoes from the dignitaries. It was a proud moment for the entire DMIS fraternity to announce the name of Keven George of Grade XII-B as the Best Socially Empowered youth of DMIS 2021-2023 and Hanshika P of Grade XII-A as the Best All Rounder of DMIS for the year 2021-2022. Amulya Guruprasad of Grade IX-B was declared a Special Awardee for her excellent and exceptional international achievements in chess.
The function had a glowing culmination with the vote of thanks proposed by Moushumi Dutta, the head of Primary and Ursula Sabu Thomas, the assistant principal, on both days, respectively.
